Leeds: Marsch must now 'show one thing' at Elland Road

Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch may have won his ‘early battles’ at Elland Road but now has to show he can handle the pressure with the West Yorkshire giants, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The American was handed more than £90 million to bolster his side in the summer transfer window but has now hit a rough patch of form in the Premier League.

This weekend sees the Whites welcome table-toppers Arsenal to Elland Road in another tough test for Marsch and his charges.

Since beating Chelsea 3-0 at home at the end of August, Leeds have gone five matches without a win in the Premier League, leaving them sat in 14th place and just three points clear of the relegation zone.

Last weekend saw Leeds lose 2-1 away to Crystal Palace in south London despite taking the lead at Selhurst Park, only for Odsonne Edouard and Eberechi Eze to turn things around.

After the final whistle, Marsch bemoaned his side’s inability ‘to be dangerous’ and that they were ‘not scoring enough goals’.

However, the American was not completely despondent, adding that he feels his side have not won the points some performances have warranted recently.

Jones says that Marsch now needs to show he can cope when the heat is on in the Elland Road dugout.

The journalist says the former RB Leipzig boss enjoyed a strong start but is unsure how he will manage when supporters begin to grow restless.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “Marsch won his early battles at Leeds and he got the fans onside but now he has to show he can cope with the relentlessness of the Premier League.”
