Leeds: ‘Lot of excitement’ around £21m star at Elland Road

Leeds United winger Luis Sinisterra is causing ‘a lot of excitement’ around Elland Road following his arrival from Feyenoord during the most recent transfer window, according to Sky Sports reporter Tim Thornton.

The Whites splashed more than £90 million on new signings following the end of last season and one arrival, in particular, has caught the eye.

The 23-year-old made the move to Leeds for £21 million in the summer and has made an immediate impact, scoring twice in his first seven Premier League games.

Sinisterra returned to Jesse Marsch’s starting line-up for Sunday’s clash with Arsenal in West Yorkshire.

It marked Sinisterra’s comeback from suspension after picking up two yellow cards in their 0-0 draw with Aston Villa two weeks ago, something Patrick Bamford branded ‘naïve’.

He was ultimately helpless, however, as Leeds were narrowly beaten 1-0 by the table-toppers in an action-packed clash, with Bukayo Saka scoring the only goal of the game.

Thornton believes that the seven-cap Colombia international is causing plenty of excitement around Leeds following his arrival.

The Sky Sports reporter adds that, following the departure of Raphinha to Barcelona, there are lofty expectations for what the winger can achieve under Marsch.

Thornton told GIVEMESPORT: “I think there's a lot of excitement about him. I think of all the signings that came in, I think there are real high hopes about him. Obviously, he was the one that was injured in pre-season that had the setback and has been slower to come to the boil for those reasons. But when he has got into the team he’s shown flashes of what he can do. He can certainly finish and has scored a couple of great goals already.”
