Kyogo in Rangers goal confession as Celtic hitman explains his muted celebration after Ibrox thunderbolt

Kyogo reckons he didn't fully celebrate after scoring a thunderbolt against Rangers because he thought his strike was offside.

The Japanese hitman was the derby hero again as his half volley seconds before the break put Brendan Rodgers' men ahead before the Hoops saw out a 1-0 win. It marked the sixth goal that the nippy attacker has hit Celtc's bitter rivals with as the Scottish champions now sit four points ahead of Michael Beale's men who end the day in fourth in the table. Kyogo isn't shy of a wild celebration after his many memorable goals, but admits he was somewhat muted this time.

He got in behind Connor Goldson and beat Rangers keeper Jack Butland outside the area, but his first thought was that he had strayed offside. It came after a VAR call disallowed a goal for the Gers for a foul on Celtic's Gustaf Lagerbielke, but Kyogo was only too happy to see his goal stand and ultimately be the difference on the day.

He told Celtic TV: "Matt headed it but I thought at first it was offside so I have to hit it first. I thought it was offside so I didn't celebrate but it was a goal so in the end I was happy. Every goal feels like the best goal for me but to get the win was very important for us so I want to keep working hard and contributing to the team."
