Ally McCoist sees 'restless' Rangers natives in loss to 'very average' Celtic as Beale pulls short criticism straw

Ally McCoist says Michael Beale beat Brendan Rodgers to the criticism punch after furious jeers met Rangers in the wake of derby dismay.

Kyogo's strike on the stroke of half-time sealed a 1-0 win for Celtic in the first Premiership clash between the arch-rivals this season. Controversy has arose after Kemar Roofe's goal was chopped off after VAR spotted a foul by Cyriel Dessers on Gustaf Lagerbielke in the build-up, and Rangers have asked for an explanation on that, but it didn't spare them the full-time boos.

With no away fans in attendance at Ibrox, loud whistles met the players in blue who trudged off and McCoist was asked by Alan Brazil on talkSPORT if the fans were waiting outside waiting for the manager, and while it stopped short of that, he admitted much better had to be done against a Hoops side banged up by injuries. The former striker responded to Brazil: "No, not quite yet. But the natives were very restless at the end of the game.

"It was one of these games where the losing manager was going to get a bit of stick and that was certainly the case. As for the players, I thought Rangers were poor to be honest.

"You can talk about the goal that got disallowed and all that. But I thought Rangers were poor against a very, very average Celtic team."
