Michael Beale Rangers board backing delights Celtic fans but Kevin Muscat pub appearance will be REAL clue - Hotline

Scotland can take a giant step towards Germany on Friday but most of the calls to the Hotline preferred to look backwards as events at Ibrox on Sunday continue to infuriate some and thrill others.

Celtic fans are still revelling in Rangers' misery and weren't shy about showing it. And one aimed a swipe at Beale over his appearance at a well-known Gers pub when predecessor Giovanni van Bronckhorst was feeling the heat - with the Londoner in the Ibrox Directors Box shortly before replacing the Dutchman.

Stephen Mulhern emailed: "I hear the Rangers chairman say they have no plans to replace Michael Beale. However if rumours are correct I expect Kevin Muscat will be visiting the Louden Tavern shortly and given a seat in the directors box for the next home game."

But James Robertson emailed from Alabama to say: "Reading Michael Beale is safe at Ibrox is music to my ears. As a Celtic fan, I hope and pray he remains with the Rangers for many, many more years." Derek Morris, Stirling, said: "Ross Wilson must be having a quiet chuckle to himself, after the stick he received while in charge of recruitment. Apart from Jack Butland, Michael Beale’s signings have been seriously found wanting."

Eddie Gilfeather, Glasgow, asked: "In light of the recent result, is it true that Rangers are demanding a reduced ticket allocation for their next Glasgow Derby at Ibrox?" Jim McClean, Rothesay, said: "The real reason Rangers have written to the SFA is not about the foul at Ibrox - it’s to get Bobby Madden back on their books as a referee again as Rangers are missing him."
