Manchester City are known for being arguably the most proficient team in the land when it comes to transfers.
The likes of Erling Haaland, Manuel Akanji and Julian Alvarez have all hit the ground running since joining last summer whilst Matheus Nunes and Josko Gvardiol already look to be part of the furniture after their summer moves to the Etihad Stadium.
But whilst they are players who signed for either big fees or came with huge reputations and shoes to fill amid the departures of Sergio Aguero, Ilkay Gundogan and Joao Cancelo, it's rare that City dip into the free transfer market. Any team would be silly not to at least consider taking Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer - let alone City, who have recently won the treble and show no signs of letting up. France superstar Mbappe sounded out a move away from the capital last summer, and though Real Madrid were the frontrunners for his signature, a deal couldn't be completed - meaning that he signed a small extension at the Parc des Princes.
He has the option to extend for a further year, though the club do not.
