Man City could use secret weapon to sign Lamine Yamal alternative for Pep Guardiola

Manchester City have already been linked with Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal after the 16-year-old burst onto the scene at the end of last season - but there could be a cheaper alternative available to Pep Guardiola.

Yamal made his debut last season aged just 15 years, 9 months and 16 days old to become Barcelona's youngest-ever player in a senior competition. He's broken records galore since.

He became youngest player to start for them in a La Liga game, the youngest to register an assist in the top-flight, the youngest player to start in a Champions League game when he lined up against Porto this season and of course, the youngest player to score for both Barcelona and in La Liga with his strike against Granada in October.

Yamal's potential makes him an asset for any team, but the downside is that he would likely cost an absolute fortune with Barcelona trying to hold on to their star asset for dear life. With that in mind, Guardiola could lean on a secret weapon in City legend Vincent Kompany to make a move for another star who is putting up similar numbers to the Spaniard - Burnley winger Luca Koleosho.

According to the CIES Football Observatory, Yamal is the best young dribbler in the world with an index score of 3.18 - marginally ahead of Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli, who ranks in at 3.16.
