Kris Boyd in searing Rangers claim over starting XI as he tells Beale a conundrum needs solved

Kris Boyd reckons Michael Beale is "no further forward" at Rangers in picking his consistent starting eleven despite a win against St Johnstone.

It was a must win Beale and no mistake for the beleaguered Londoner who eased some fan fears with a 2-0 win against a Steven McLean side struggling to find their feet. A bittersweet header from Danilo inside 17 minutes opened the scoring, but the Brazilian was immediately forced off with a nasty face knock and is now in hospital dealing with the injury. It wasn't until late in the second half that Rangers sealed the deal with Rabbi Matondo slotting home.

But Boyd reckons the Welshman's performance provides yet another selection conundrum for Beale with the Ibrox hero unsure if he still knows his best eleven men to field in light blue. It's about consistency for the Sky Sports pundit who says the next run of games will provide more of an answer to the bubbling question.

He told Sky Sports: "They won the game, it's another clean sheet. But the games today and coming up should be clean sheets. You've lost the two league games you have conceded a goal in. That's the worry, it needs addressed. Again, I don't think Michael Beale is any further forward in getting a starting eleven he can trust week after week after week.

"It's a conundrum now Beale faces with Rabbi Matondo because every time he comes on he does something but when you start him, he doesn't quite hit the levels. Is he a substitute where he just comes on and has an impact?"
