Kjetil Knutsen issued 'crazy' Rangers manager job warning by Celtic hero as Bodo exit could begin 'a lot of suffering'

Former Celtic boss Ronny Deila has warned Kjetil Knutsen that he could face "a lot of suffering" when he leaves Bodo/Glimt amid links over a move to Rangers.

Knutsen has been tipped as one of the early frontrunners to replace Michael Beale in the Scottish Premiership side's hot seat having previously been linked with the post last term when Gio van Bronckhorst was shown the door. The boss is on course to seal his third Norwegian title with Bodo/Glimt and has also led the club to scalps in the Europa League and Europa Conference League - including over Deila's former side Celtic.

The Norwegian gaffers will face off in the Conference League as the Club Brugge travel to Bodo - and ahead of the clash Deila was put on the spot about comparisons between the career paths of the two. The former Parkhead manager led the Hoops to two titles and a League Cup after leaving his homeland after leading Stromsgodset to the a historic championship victory.

And Deila reckons Knutsen can make his mark elsewhere in Europe amid speculation over a switch to the Light Blues - even if he will have to adjust to a "crazy" top level club. He told VG: "He certainly has the potential to get a great job in Europe, but he must feel that it is right.

"Right now it looks like he feels like he's still in the flow zone here and is developing and can create great things. I had that feeling a bit in Stromsgodset. It's a time I'll never forget and I just have to enjoy it while it lasts.

"Being a coach at the top level in Europe is a crazy move. Just ask Ole Gunnar Solskjær about it. Celtic is a tough football club, and you have to learn to deal with that. Without saying anything negative about Bodo/Glimt or Stromsgodset, it is a completely different world.
