Golf It! so popular it’s had to close temporarily as chiefs revamp turf
A new state-of-the-art golf driving range has proved so popular, it’s having to close for a while.
Golf It! in Glasgow threw open its doors only in August but has already seen more than two million balls struck. Demand has been so high, the conditions of the ground have been hit.
The facility’s outfield now requires work but Golf It! chiefs have promised their already vast number of users, it won’t be long before it’s back up and running.
A statement read: "Since Golf It! opened at the beginning of August, we have received an incredible response from the public and demand to use our driving range has exceeded all of our expectations, with over two million balls hit in just eight weeks.
"We want to thank you for this fantastic support. Golf It! has proved so popular and your reaction has been so positive that we have seen tens of thousands of visitors already come through the doors in just a short period of time.
"We have experienced this significant volume of traffic during recent adverse weather and due to the high number of balls hit and collected in such a short period of time, we have seen the ground conditions of the driving range outfield deteriorate.
"We are moving quickly to immediately address this situation and will be upgrading the outfield of the driving range as a matter of priority – customer experience is at the heart of Golf It! so we want our facilities to be the very best.
"Therefore, we are closing the range until Saturday 7 October. This short closure will be followed by a period of altered operating times until Monday 23 October when we will undertake works to upgrade and enhance the outfield to ensure it remains in optimal condition during periods of high demand.
