Wales press conference live as Warren Gatland issues update ahead of Georgia clash

Warren Gatland is expected to issue an update on Wales' preparations for their match against Georgia this weekend at a press conference in Nantes. Wales were originally due to name their team to face Georgia today, but surprised everyone on Monday by announcing six changes to the side that beat Australia.

Hooker Dewi Lake returns to captain the side while Gareth Anscombe has been brought in to start at fly-half in place of Dan Biggar, who suffered a pectoral injury against the Wallabies.

Tommy Reffell is named at openside flanker having picked up an injury during the warm-up against Portugal while Dafydd Jenkins starts in the second row. Also back in the starting lineup are Tomos Williams and Rio Dyer, with Gareth Davies dropped to the bench and Josh Adams left out of the matchday 23 altogether.

Taulupe Faletau and Louis Rees-Zammit are named in the XV for the fourth time in France to start all of Wales' matches so far this tournament, while Nick Tompkins and George North continue their centre partnership after shining in the convincing win over Australia.

On Tuesday coach Jonathan Humphreys a number of training sessions have been full of "edge" this week ahead of the final Rugby World Cup Pool match on Saturday.

Humphreys said: "The feeling has been good. There’s been a bit of edge about training which we want. We just want to continue the progress.

"We want to improve, get better. That’s something we’ve talked constantly. We had a few days off after Australia. Since Friday, all we’ve talked about is Georgia."
