Kieran Tierney in transfer address as Celtic return rumours swirl but defender confesses 'it's not up to me'

Arsenal star Kieran Tierney admits he has NOT had any talks with boss Mikel Arteta over an exit this summer amid links to Celtic and Newcastle United.

Tierney struggled for game time under Arteta last term following the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko and is unlikely to want another season warming the bench at the Emirates. Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has left the door open to a reunion at Parkhead as he confessed "you can just never say never in football" but the Scottish Premiership side could be priced out of a deal should Arsenal stick to their £30million valuation.

Newcastle have been touted as a potential destinations. However, reports south of the border are swirling that Eddie Howe's business could be all-but over amid restrictions over Financial Fair Play rules. Speaking to the media following the 2-0 pre-season loss to Manchester United, Tierney was asked about his future. He said: “It’s not really up to me.

“I’ve not had any discussions with the manager and I’m just working hard every day and trying to do as well as I can. I didn’t miss a single game because of injury last season.

"I was available for every match and always ready when called upon. I think everyone would agree that I never give less than 100 percent, whether I’m playing or not.

“You can’t play every single game every year and I don’t expect that. But I still made a lot of appearances last season coming off the bench, whether that was to see games out or help to get a goal, and I did all I could to help.”
