Kieran Tierney set Celtic non negotiable as Brendan Rodgers refuses to deal with 'what ifs'

Brendan Rodgers doesn't want to dwell on what could be and insists his focus is on improving his Celtic squad overall this month.

The Irishman has been linked with making a blockbuster move for Kieran Tierney, who has fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal. Real Sociedad are believed to be keen on a loan move that would take him to La Liga but rumours last month suggested Rodgers also wanted the left-back, with the man himself said to be open to slashing wages.

It was put to the Celtic boss ahead of Sunday's Premiership match against Aberdeen that there had been rumours surrounding the Scotland star. But when the situation of Tierney possibly wanting a Parkhead comeback and whether he would be interested in it was suggested, Rodgers was definitive. He said: "I don't speak on what ifs. There is speculation about many players coming into here. Naturally, there's a link and association with Kieran because of his past here.

"There is nothing to add to that. I want to add to the squad and if we can strengthen that over the next couple of weeks, I will be happy with that."
