Brian Harman plans madcap celebration after winning The Open as Claret Jug set for special toast on his TRACTOR

Hunter Brian Harman vowed to celebrate Open glory by taking the Claret Jug for a ride on his new tractor.

The American star ploughed over his rivals at Hoylake to win by six. Harman didn’t slip on a rain-sodden Sunday of the 151st Championship as he ruthlessly farmed the prize to grab his first Major. The 36-year-old planned to guzzle Guinness from the game’s most cherished silverware after his runaway triumph.

Harman then intends taking it with him onto his newest mechanical toy as, when asked if he was going to buy a new rifle with his £2.3 million winners cheque, he said: “I’m a bow hunter, so no new rifles. I had a nice week a couple weeks ago and I bought a new tractor for my hunting place, so I’ll get home and I’ll be on the tractor mowing grass in the next few weeks.

“I’ll excited about that. I’ll just put my phone away and go get on the tractor. I haven’t told my wife how much I spent on it yet.

“I haven’t seen it yet. It’s on order. It’s a 105 horse Kybota tractor and it’s going to be a pretty one. It’s orange.

“Let’s see, we’ve got about 25 acres of food plots that need and, gosh, I don’t know how many miles of roads. I’d call it probably 40 acres total that needs to get mowed.

“The tractor might make it down to the farm one time just to show [Claret Jug] to everybody. I’m not going to let it out of my sight for the time being, for sure.

“My family is up at a lake house in upstate New York, so I’ll spend three days with them and we’ll do some fishing. I’ll get to spend some good time with my family. That’s where I’ll disappear and take it from there. I’ve got a lot of layers, man. I’m like an onion!”
