Jota to become FREE AGENT as Celtic hero sees Serie A big-hitters 'ready' to end his Saudi nightmare

Jota's transfer woes at Al-Ittihad could be about to be solidified with the Celtic hero set to become a free agent imminently, according to reports.

The Saudi Arabian adventure for the popular former Parkhead winger has not gone to plan with the cash-injected Middle Eastern club splurging on transfers galore. Yet Ittihad are constrained by the quota on the number of foreign players they can have in their squad, having already brought in the high-profile names of Karim Benzema, N'Golo Kante and Fabinho from Real Madrid, Chelsea and Liverpool respectively. Ittihad have also made an optimistic move for superstar Mo Salah, but must trim their squad in order to do so with Jota seemingly het for an exit.

According to transfer specialist TopSkillsUK , the 24-year-old winger has been 'confirmed' as leaving the club after just a month and a half in Jeddah. It means Jota could earn the status of being a free agent, with reports in Saudi initially claiming he could be loaned to another Pro League side to comply with squad rules. Now, however, it appears he may make a full exit after banking Celtic £25million when he departed.

9 Celtic wildcard fixes Brendan Rodgers must consider in bid to solve swelling central defender crisis

The report states that Atalanta are keen to pursue the winger, after fan strife was deemed to be the subject of his impending exit from Ittihad despite compatriot Nuno Espirito Santo claiming only last week that it would be 'unfair' to judge the youngster already. He has made appearances off the bench for the Tigers.
