Josko Gvardiol told what to expect from Pep Guardiola if Man City transfer secured

Bacary Sagna has described Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola as 'demanding but fair' as the manager gears up to defend the Treble next season.

The Catalan coach will go down as one of the greatest minds to grace the game, his tactical nous and expectancy of total commitment often being lauded by the players who have worked under him.

New City arrivals have often taken time to adapt to Guardiola’s style of play, Erling Haaland being one exception. The likes of Jack Grealish, Nathan Ake and Rodri all took a season to reach their peak level and new recruit Mateo Kovacic may experience the same.

RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol is a primary target, although the Bundesliga club are putting up a fight for his signature. The Blues are nevertheless expected to make a concerted effort for his transfer and former City right-back Sagna has detailed what he can expect from Guardiola, should a switch materialise.

The Frenchman - who played 25 games under Guardiola in the 2016/17 season - told talkSPORT: “He’s very demanding, very demanding tactically, very demanding while we’re on the pitch, when you’re off the pitch he’s fully dedicated to football.

“He doesn’t have any specific time where he can’t speak about football no matter the time, no matter the day. Whenever he has to say something he will say and he won’t even bother taking players out no matter who it is if he thinks he’s not having the right spirit.

“He’s proven at Barcelona, he did it when he came to Man City with [Sergio] Aguero. Aguero was a top striker but he put him on the bench because he was expecting more defensively from him. I think he’s a fair coach.”
