Kyle Walker 'ready to commit' to Man City after Bayern Munich U-turn and more transfer rumours

Kyle Walker is 'ready to commit' his future to Manchester City instead of moving to Bayern Munich, according to reports.

At one stage it looked likely that Walker would become yet another City great to leave the club this summer after the departures of Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez. The defender publically aired his frustrations over not starting the Champions League final and seemed to fancy a change of scenery as he enters the twilight of his career.

Walker appeared to be closing in on a move to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich after being made a top priority signing by Thomas Tuchel. However, the Daily Mail reports that the German club's 'hopes of landing Walker are fading rapidly' as the England international is close to signing a new contract at the Etihad.

Walker's current deal runs until 2024 and it's claimed, while the deal is not yet finalised, it's looking likely he will extend his stay by a further 12 months to 2025. The news will be a massive boost to Pep Guardiola who has been desperate to keep the experienced, pacey and versatile 33-year-old in his squad.

A further report from The Athletic claims Walker had actually agreed personal terms with Bayern but the two clubs had been unable to agree on a fee for the transfer. In that time, Walker had returned to pre-season training and captained the side in several friendlies.

It's reported that Walker changed his mind about a departure following talks with Guardiola and is now considering signing the Blues' contract offer, which is more than what Bayern were offering.
