Josh Campbell dealt Hibs injury blow as timeline for return revealed as 'significant spell' on sidelines awaits
Hibs have suffered a major injury blow after confirming Josh Campbell will be out of action for a 'significant period'.
The Easter Road star collided with Dylan Levitt during the recent Edinburgh derby with Hearts and after scans on the knock it has been revealed he has suffered a small fracture of the ankle and he will now miss a minimum of 12 weeks. However, the 23-year-old will NOT require surgery in a positive note and will now be watched closely by the medical team in Leith as he begins his recovery process.
Nick Montgomery's men are currently on their winter break with the Scottish Premiership in cold storage for a couple of weeks. They return to action in two weeks time against Forfar Athletic on the road in the Scottish Cup before hosting Philippe Clement and Rangers four days later in the return of the top flight action. A club statement read: "Hibernian FC can confirm that Josh Campbell will be out for a significant period of time with an ankle injury.
"Josh was stretchered off in the Edinburgh Derby after colliding with Dylan Levitt in the second-half on Wednesday 27 December, 2023. Scan results have revealed a small fracture in Josh’s ankle which means he will be out for a minimum of 12 weeks.
"Thankfully, the 23-year-old will not need surgery and will now be closely monitored by the Hibernian FC medical department throughout his rehabilitation and recovery process. Everyone at Hibernian FC wishes Josh all the best with his recovery and look forward to seeing him back on the pitch as soon as possible."
