John McGinn tells Scotland pals to 'create history' as he looks to end Spain's 28 GAME home winning streak

John McGinn knows he could be sitting with his Scotland mates on Sunday praying Spain do them a favour by knocking Norway out the Euro qualifying campaign – ensuring a place in Germany for Steve Clarke ’s squad.

But he’d much rather the Scots did their own dirty work in the Estadio Carjuna tonight. The Aston Villa midfielder knows the magnitude of the task. Scotland is taking on a nation that has won their last TWENTY EIGHT home European qualifiers. So even taking the point our country craves is going to take a monumental effort to come anywhere close to repeating the 2-0 win over the Spanish at Hampden in March.

But having won the first five games of the campaign, McGinn is hellbent on making it a round half dozen, irrespective of the hostility Scotland will face in Seville: “To have this opportunity to qualify here would be a night to remember for the rest of our lives. We don’t want somebody else to complete the job for us after all this hard work. We want to do it ourselves.

“We know it’s not going to be easy. They’ll be hurting after the last game, 100 percent. We know we need a big, big performance, the same way it was at Hampden to get anything out of the game.

“But it’s a nice position to be in and we want to do the job ourselves, definitely. As a group we have managed to create history on a few occasions and we don’t want to stop there. We all have that determination to keep going and create more history and be that team that wins the first six games for probably the first time ever.

“Why can’t we be? Why can’t we go and create records and be the first team to win here? And what an achievement that would be.”
