Rocco Vata leads Celtic young guns as Parkhead insider declares glass ceiling is about to be smashed

Scott Robertson knows well the challenge of smashing the glass ceiling which separates Celtic' s academy kids from the first team.

The former Hoops midfielder believes that invisible barrier is about to be breached due to both the introduction of a B team as well as the demand from Brendan Rodgers for homegrown talent to be part of his side's DNA. Skipper Callum McGregor was the only player from the club's production line to start last weekend's win over Kilmarnock with the focus on recruitment from all corners of the globe.

But Robertson, who was promoted into a Europa League group stage game in Romania against CFR Cluj under Neil Lennon four years ago, has pinpointed two youngsters who have what it takes to emerge in time. He said: "The two boys which impressed me most were big Bosun Lawal and Rocco Vata who both started training with the first team last December while I was still at Celtic. It can be daunting for a young player to take that step but day in and day out they showed the ability they have and that was recognised straight away by the more experienced players.

"Bosun is on loan at Fleetwood with me at the moment and he's showing just what a good player he is. He arrived at the end of the last transfer window and he's been quality but he's also been getting much needed first team minutes which is crucial for him at this stage of his career.

"Bosun has been playing both centre-back and right back, he's strong and good on the ball and he's still only 20-years-old so he's developing and I have no doubt he can have a big future at Celtic when he returns."
