Hamilton Accies defender Jamie Hamilton injury update after specialist visit in London

Jamie Hamilton is making positive progress as the defender aims to end almost two years of injury hell at Accies.

The 21-year-old has been sidelined long-term with a recurring thigh injury and has suffered a number of setbacks in his bid to pull on an Accies jersey for the first time since April 2022 in a 1-0 win over Morton.

He also had quad surgery to alleviate his issues in September.

And after seeing a specialist this week, it is hoped the club’s academy product can see light at the end of the tunnel.

Boss John Rankin explained: “Jamie was down in London on Tuesday seeing a specialist again, who is pleased with his progress and thinks he is ahead of schedule.

“That is pleasing for Jamie. He has had a tough time and is still a number of months away from getting back, but he is going in the right direction on the road to recovery.

“By the time he gets back, it will be the best part of two years he has been out.

“He has gone through a lot of different emotions, but he is with the team every day and they are beginning to see how hard he is having to work to get fit.

“Hopefully, he can grow in confidence from that and get himself back, to continue the momentum he has built up in his drive to get fit again.”

Hamilton is out of contract at New Douglas Park in the summer.
