Jamie Redknapp slams Manchester United fans for 'disgraceful' Harry Maguire treatment
Jamie Redknapp has slammed Manchester United fans for mocking Harry Maguire after the former captain received the Man of the Match performance in the victory over Sheffield United.
Maguire kept his place in the starting XI thanks to his display against Brentford and the current injury woes plaguing the back line. The 30-year-old did more than just make up the numbers though with a competent display which limited the Blades to few clear-cut chances.
Diogo Dalot eventually won the match for the Reds thanks to a long-range strike but the goal did not prevent Maguire being named Man of the Match by broadcasters Sky Sports. Speaking after the game, former Liverpool man Redknapp claimed the centre-back's performance showed his critics why he remains an integral part of the team.

He explained: "As a professional, I think he’s been treated disgracefully by football fans. Everywhere he’s been, even his own fans, England fans, he’s been ridiculed and it’s not fair.
"He’s shown how important he is tonight, and of course, he’s made mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes.
"There are so many players at Manchester United capable of making the mistakes he’s made before but they won’t get a quarter of the stick that he does when Harry Maguire does it. It becomes a meme, everyone starts talking about it.
"Do I think long-term that he'll be the answer for them? I actually don’t, he’s played well recently but I think he’ll have to make his way again somewhere else. But he doesn’t deserve the amount of hate he gets, I think it’s been massively below the belt and disgraceful at times."
Maguire will likely start for United again on Tuesday
