Harry Kane names Manchester United star in his best XI of players he's played alongside
Harry Kane has called Harry Maguire “one of England’s best defenders” and picked him in a best XI made up of players he has featured alongside during his career.
Maguire was booed by some Three Lions fans in September’s internationals, prompting boss Gareth Southgate and teammates to launch a staunch defence of the 30-year-old. He has struggled for game time during Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United reign but has enjoyed minutes in recent weeks amid injuries to Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane.
Maguire had hinted that he may seek an exit if this game time had not come about ahead of Euro 2024. He has started the last five games, playing 90 minutes in each.

Maguire headed in the winner against Copenhagen during last week’s crucial Champions League clash, prompting praise of his character after a tough two years which included the captain's armband being taken from him this summer.
England skipper Kane himself is a big admirer of his international colleague. “Harry has been one of England’s best defenders, there’s no doubt about that,” he said, via Planet Football.
“People are entitled to their opinions and people get carried away with some of the stuff they put on social media these days, but H is a strong character and from an England point of view we have no doubt that he will perform. Everyone in that squad knows how important Harry is to us.”
