James Tavernier gets angry Rangers fan grilling as skipper hit with 'how many years' behind Celtic lament

The fan reaction to Rangers' defeat at the weekend was one of fury, but it wasn't just the now departed Michael Beale in the firing line.

Aberdeen's 3-1 win at Ibrox had thousands of fans streaming out long before the final whistle was blown. But some stuck around and made sure they were outside afterwards in order to make their feelings known to the players when they eventually left the bowels of the stadium to make their way home.

As captain, James Tavernier will no doubt bear the bulk of the responsibility from a playing sense for a run of form than simply hasn't been good enough and cost the manager his job. He's not one to shirk it, but was caught between a rock and a hard place when one fan singled him out for a post-match grilling on Saturday evening as the demand for answers reached fever pitch.

Footage has emerged on social media of Tavernier walking the gauntlet outside Ibrox. He'a asked to speak up on what's going on in the dressing room, to which he respectfully replies that he can't talk about. Then it's why Rangers are so far behind Celtic and have been for years, before the please for passion and fight are made.

Fan: "Tav, what's going on in there? A bit of passion, a bit of fight Tav. You've been hear for years."

Tavernier: "I'm not going to start talking about that."

Fan: "We'll tell them that Tav, you're the captain, a bit of speak!"

Tavernier: "I'm not going to speak about that."

Fan: "We're seven points behind Tav, how many years have we been behind? A bit of passion, a bit of fight, Tav. This is Rangers, you're a hall of famer, speak Tav!"
