Jadon Sancho is making his feelings known about returning to Manchester United

It is telling that Jadon Sancho has not remotely acknowledged his reintegration back into the Manchester United fold.

Sancho wished Manuel Akanji and Erling Haaland, former teammates at Borussia Dortmund now at Manchester City, a happy birthday on his Instagram Story. Another friend’s birthday was celebrated in a separate post. Sancho has not once shared or posted about his return to training with United or his appearance against Rangers on Saturday.

There is no mention of United in his bio and any United-related post has been deleted on his Instagram page. Representing United is a privilege millions dream of but for Sancho it is an apparent inconvenience.

The last post on Sancho’s account is dated June 3, reflecting on the loan spell at Dortmund. That is pinned to his Instagram and X accounts. The silence speaks volumes.

Sancho billed Dortmund as “home” upon his return in January. The home comforts were not snug enough. On the day he returned to Carrington, Dortmund assigned his number ten to Julian Brandt.

Dortmund doubted United could get anything close to the £40million they value(d?) Sancho at. Going off the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules, the minimum fee required is £29.16m as Sancho is three years into a five-year contract after his £72.9m transfer in 2021.

Wisely, United omitted Sancho from their gallery of smiling players and staff departing Carrington for Manchester Airport on Wednesday afternoon. Sancho reflected on “past issues” in his summit with Erik ten Hag two weeks ago and he still feels a part of the past at United, despite his present status.
