ITV This Morning viewers floored by star's 'controversial' vagina remark during segment

This Morning viewers were left unimpressed with a term used by a health expert while discussing the female reproductive system.

During Tuesday's (August 6) programme, Dr Saliha Mahmood-Ahmed spoke about boosting gut health but it was her choice of words when referring to childbirth that sparked an online stir.

The foodologist said that humans are inhabited by microbes from birth, yet rather than choosing gentle phrasing, she opted for a more graphic description that didn't sit well with everyone.

She stated: "With loads and loads of gut bugs inside you, and they've formed inside of you as soon as you were born and shot out of your mother's canal, we started getting colonised by bugs."

As the camera cut to host Josie, she seemed to be suppressing a smile whilst the doctor continued. The gut health specialist went on to say: "And they help you in lots of ways, they help you digest your food. If you have a good collection of diverse bugs inside of you, they will protect yourself from heart disease, diabetes and even your mood can be protected from depression etc.", reports the Mirror.

Dr Saliha added passionately: "So they are a wonder, gut bugs are a wonder," yet despite the intriguing subject, viewers couldn't get past her use of "Mother's canal" and aired their grievances on social media.

Irritated users took to X - the platform formerly known as Twitter - to express their thoughts on a particular phrase used during a segment. "Shot out your mother's canals, controversial.. #ThisMorning," one user commented, while another shared: "I really don't want to think about being shot out my mothers canal ffs! #Thismorning."

A third person posted: "'Shot out of your mother's canal' f***ing hell love, could have worded that better
