ITV The Masked Singer viewers say 'it all makes sense' as Spag Bol unmasked as TV presenter

Fans tuned into The Masked Singer on Sunday (January 5) to catch the first reveal of the new series, and were left saying 'it all makes sense'. The ITV singing contest returned with 12 new characters on Saturday (January 4), with six of them performing for the first time.

Taking to the stage under their elaborate costumes were Teeth, Snail, Tattoo, Kingfisher, Spaghetti Bolognese and Dressed Crab, with a host of mysterious famous faces hidden underneath.

After each of their performances, it was Spag Bol and Teeth who received the fewest votes and found themselves in the bottom two. The judging panel, made up of Jonathan Ross, Mo Gillian, Davina McCall and Maya Jama, who has joined the show for the first time to replace Rita Ora, as well as guest judge Mo Farah, chose to save Teeth.

However, a twist at the end of Saturday's episode saw host Joel Dommett announce that Spag Bol's identity wouldn't be revealed there and then as per usual, and that viewers would have to wait until Sunday.

At the start of Sunday's show, Spag Bol returned to the stage and was forced to remove their mask and reveal their identity. Ahead of the big reveal, the panel made guesses including Ruby Wax, Julia Bradbury, Emma Raducanu, Judy Murray and Anita Rani.

But they were all wrong, as it was in fact Good Morning Britain presenter, Kate Garraway, who was hiding behind the Spag Bol costume.

Davina was left stunned as she told the panel: "I only saw her last week, and not a whisper." As the panel commended her performance, Kate then went on to say: "I can't sing and I kept telling them that, but they said it doesn't matter."
