Irish club pile on Rangers agony as Celtic named 'biggest club in Glasgow' in four-part onslaught

When it rains, it pours - and it's certainly chucking it down at Ibrox right now with Rangers in turmoil.

After a promising start to Michael Beale 's Rangers tenure, things have turned sour this season after a rocky beginning. Despite not winning a trophy last season, the positive signs were prevalent in Govan with January signings Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin coming in to the squad and performing well, alongside a run of decent Scottish Premiership results.

But after being entrusted with a massive budget to fund a rebuild, it went all so wrong for Beale. He was sacked after just seven league games, having lost three of those and being ceremoniously dumped out of the Champions League by PSV in a 7-3 aggregate loss. But even without the Englishman, it gets worse. There were cheers in the blue half of Glasgow on Wednesday evening when Lazio beat Celtic in the final minute of the Champions League, with schadenfreude the only source of joy for many Light Blues in their current predicament.

However, that was quickly turned on its head when Aris Limassol downed Steven Davis' men 2-1 on his managerial debut to turn the joke back to the Ibrox club. And, in an unprovoked attack on X, Irish club Palmerstown FC have launched a tirade of tweets that have rubbed the salt into the Rangers wounds, naming Celtic as the bigger club amongst other insults.

The first tweet from @OfficialParmo read: "Even we beat Aris Limassol and we’re a Sunday league team", followed by a hands-over-eyes emoji.

Next came a tweet that said "Fun fact: Both Palmerstown FC and Rangers were formed in the same year. 2012 #MightySwans", before a third tweet in the early hours of Friday morning said: "Reasons why Palmerstown FC are a bigger club than the
