Inside Maik Nawrocki to Celtic transfer as fee structure and Legia Warsaw sell on clause revealed

More detail on Maik Nawrocki's imminent transfer to Celtic have emerged in Poland.

The German-born centre back is set to become the latest recruit under Brendan Rodgers' second reign as Hoops boss. With Cameron Carter-Vickers out injured, the champions need reinforcements at the back and have won the race to land the 22-year-old ahead of other interested parties in Europe. He will pen a five-year deal in Glasgow after jetting into Scotland on Saturday, but the specifics of the move have now been reported by Polish outlet SportINTERA.

The Hoops will stump up £4.3million for Nawrocki, but will pay that in two separate instalments. Legia Warsaw could further profit from their man should he impress in green and white due to a 15 per cent sell on clause that's part of the agreement. There was further interest in the defender from Germany, Italy and Belgium but the serious players were Celtic and Union Berlin.

Ironically, Nawrocki's former Legia teammate and ex-Celtic star Josip Juranovic talked up his former club and helped make the Pole;s mind up. However, it has now been reported that Juranovic's current club Union berlin were the Bhoy;s main competitors for his signature, but seem to have ultimately missed out.

It's expected that Nawrocki's switch will be confirmed and announced on Monday. He is thought to have completed his medical and will meet his new teammates for the first time when they return from a pre-season tour of Japan.

Rodgers' men were beaten 6-4 in a crazy game against Yokohama F marinos earlier this week. They rounded off the trip with a 1-0 victory over Gamba Osaka on Saturday.
