Celtic transfer news bulletin as Haris Belkebla a 'main' target while the rules are set for 2 sell on windfalls

Free agent Haris Belkebla has reportedly emerged as a "main" target for Celtic this summer after leaving Stade Brestois.

The Algerian international has spent the last five seasons with the French side after coming through the ranks at minnows Tours. However, the 29-year-old opted not to renew his contract at the Ligue 1 side and look for a deal elsewhere in Europe this summer - and the Scottish Premiership side are said to be among the clubs chasing a deal.

A report in Algeria claims that Brendan Rodgers has made the playmaker a "main" target but faces competition from Sheffield United to sign Belkebla. Fennec Football report that he is weighing up a "golden opportunity" to either play Champions League or English Premier League football next season while also holding options for a move to Saudi Arabia. Earlier this summer, he admitted he was keen on a move away from France.

Last month, Belkebla was asked about the prospect of moving to Bramall Lane. He said: “I have proposals but I haven’t made a choice. Sheffield? I saw it circulating, I wasn’t aware! Why not a challenge abroad? That might interest me.”

While moving the likes of Albian Ajeti and Ismaila Soro on will be on the agenda this summer to bring an influx of cash to the Hoops, the club will also be hoping to land windfalls from sell-on clauses. Jeremie Frimpong could net a bumper payday for Celtic should he leave Bayer Leverkusen.

A report in Spain suggest Xabi Alonso has told the full-back he won't stand in his way of an exit should Real Madrid make their move. El Nacional report that the former Bernabeu star has held talks behind the scenes with Frimpong over a potential move.

However, it is not just Real who are said to be interested in the Netherlands
