Inquest of teenagers killed in Coedely crash reveal circumstances of tragic deaths - live updates

An inquest is due to be held today into the deaths of three teenage men who died following a crash between an Audi and a bus. Callum Griffiths, 19, from Porth, Jesse Owen, 18, from Tonypandy, and Morgan Smith, 18, from Tonypandy all died in the crash.

The collision happened in Elwyn Street in Coedely, Tonyrefail, on Monday, December 11, 2023.

The three men were declared dead at the scene. Two further men, aged 18 and 19, were taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff with life threatening injuries. Two other people were also treated for minor injuries.

Former boxing champion Morgan was described by his heartbroken family as the "perfect son". The family of Jesse Owen said: “Jesse had a presence that would light up any room."

Callum Griffiths' mum Natalie, dad Lee and sister Erin, said: “He was the most precious gift of a son and our love is endless."
