I refuse to buy swirling Rangers suspicion and will ask players for a favour when I see them in tunnel - Barry Ferguson

I'll have the proud honour of representing Rangers this afternoon by carrying the Scottish Cup out onto the pitch at Hampden shortly before kick-off.

Knowing the way my mind works when the adrenaline hits on derby day I’ll probably end up eyeballing Mikael Lustig who’s doing the same job for Celtic all the way to the centre circle. And then I’ll head back up the tunnel and ask for a favour from the guys who will be walking out the other way, wearing those blue shirts on cup final day ‘Whatever you do today guys, make sure you bring that thing back with you to Ibrox!’.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 22 years since the last Old Firm showpiece in this competition and I have to say, to this day, it’s my favourite ever. I’ve been lucky enough to have played in some unbelievable games but every time I think about that day it just brings a smile to my face. We were up against our fiercest rivals and a Celtic side packed with quality. I was playing for a team packed with every bit as much.

And most importantly of all, we won it. But what a game to be involved in. We went behind twice to goals from John Hartson and Bobo Balde but we showed the desire and the hunger to fight back and then to win it in the dying seconds through Peter Lovenkrands. It had thundered on for 90 odd minutes. Celtic were on top for five minutes, then we would knock them back onto their heels for a while. And back and forth it went.

There was aggression, there was anger and there was a lot of good football too. I obviously don’t want to mention my own free-kick which brought us back to 2-2. But it was a belter! Anyway, then Lorenzo Amoruso passed the ball to Neil McCann and normally Terry would take on his full-back. But, just this once, he crossed it
