'I'm happy here' - Pep Guardiola sets contract mood and earmarks role for fringe Man City player

McAtee, who emerged unscathed from Grealish's tackle with some trademark quick feet, probably wasn't aware that Guardiola had just earmarked him for a first team role this season. His future is still unresolved, but has been taken on pre-season to earn a place in Guardiola's squad. And the manager has been watching McAtee on loan at Sheffield United.

Guardiola was on good form in Raleigh, at the home of popular women's side North Carolina Courage. He said he needed his break over the last two months. "Like every season I need a break. But I charge my batteries, I have the same energy like usual. I know the competition is coming. I'm completely focussed on that."
