Pep Guardiola gives Kevin De Bruyne 'leaving' verdict and reveals Man City summer transfer activity

Pep Guardiola moved to calm supporters' expectations when it comes to further summer signings - but provided a huge boost by confirming that Kevin De Bruyne will not depart this summer.

Speaking for the first time this summer, Guardiola hailed City's acquisition of Savinho, but cautioned against expecting many more signings to follow the exciting Brazilian through the doors at the Etihad. If any major arrivals are signed, Guardiola said City would likely be replacements for any players looking to leave.

But one player set to stay is talisman De Bruyne, with Guardiola interrupting a question to confirm that 'Kevin isn't leaving'.

Asked about the temptation of Saudi Arabia for players like De Bruyne, who admitted this summer that he would consider an 'absurd' offer from the Saudo Pro League, Guardiola interjected to set the record straight. Reports this week suggested that De Bruyne had agreed terms with Al Ittihad, but there was understood to be no movement from either side, and Guardiola's confirmation should draw a line under the matter.

Other players could depart, however, as Guardiola hinted at potential exits before the transfer deadline. "I don't know what will happen in the market," he said. "The squad is long enough, if someone leaves we talk about that. Of course, until the last day, we have chances - I don't rule out the option to have new players but if anyone leaves, I think 85, 90, 95 per cent we will have the same squad.
