Hull KR talking points: Back to winning ways, captain fantastic, Coote and business end of 2022

Hull KR got back to winning ways on Sunday as they ran in seven tries to beat a Salford side breathing down the neck of the Robins after the Red Devils had hit a real purple patch in their season.

Braces from Lachlan Coote, Ben Crooks and Ryan Hall, plus a try from winger Ethan Ryan secured a 43-16 victory for the Robins as they moved back into the playoff spots and now sit sixth on the Super League ladder.

There were plenty of positives to take from the contest, but here are the four main talking points to come out of their emphatic victory.

As was said leading up to the Salford clash, winning was the priority on Sunday afternoon. But the Robins produced a ruthless performance as well as they put Salford to the sword. Tony Smith said during the build-up that he expected his side to play with more energy and guile, and that they did.

The Robins played with confidence and were put under some pressure several times during the game, but they held firm and dominated the Red Devils in all aspects of the contest.

A big plus was also the way Smith's men responded when Salford started to raise their aggression levels. The attitude in defence and controlled aggression resulted in the visitors losing Tyler Dupree and Harvey Livett to the sin bin. In these periods, Rovers exposed the 12 men and capitalised after earning the right to play, as the rampant Robins ran in seven tries at Craven Park and re-ignited their 2022 campaign.
