Hull KR know error of their ways as Huddersfield Giants rematch offers familiar challenge

Hull KR and Huddersfield Giants meet for the fourth time in 2022 on Sunday. After a pre-season friendly in January where the Robins ran out 24-18 winners, the two sides clashed in round three of Super League and in this year's Challenge Cup semi-final, as Huddersfield took the spoils in both ties.

The Giants are seven points ahead of Rovers on the Super League ladder and Tony Smith's men desperately need to pick up the two points as the push for the playoffs heats up.

We take a look at the five previous competitive games between the Yorkshire rivals as Rovers attempt to boost their poor record against the Giants, who have dominated in recent years.

The two sides met at Elland Road in May for a chance to play in the inaugural Tottenham Challenge Cup final. However, Rovers were without Lachlan Coote, and influential figures Kane Linnett and Jordan Abdull played with injuries they would succumb to during and after the match, respectively. Early tries from Josh Jones and Olly Russell gave the Giants a 12-0 lead at the break before a fantastic solo effort from McGillvary. A short-range try from Owen Trout on the hour mark broke the hearts of the Robins, who managed to cross the whitewash thanks to Shaun Kenny Dowall. Still, ultimately the club produced a bitterly disappointing outing on the big stage.

After an opening day defeat to Wigan Warriors, Rovers travelled to the John Smiths Stadium aiming to pick up their first points of 2022. But, unfortunately, the bad luck started before Rovers had even arrived in Huddersfield, as Matty Storton was unable to get down from the snowy Pennines and had to pull out of the starting lineup.

After a poor start to the contest, three quick-fire tries from the Giants saw Rovers trail 16-0
