Hull FC head coach Brett Hodgson reveals Cameron Scott injury and explains Ben McNamara setback

Hull FC head coach Brett Hodgson has revealed bad injury news for both Cameron Scott and Ben McNamara, whilst also providing an update on Adam Swift. That comes as a double blow to Hull, but there is some good news with the return of Luke Gale following concussion protocols.

As well as his club captain, Hodgson was hoping to welcome back McNamara into the fold for the Magic Weekend, with Scott's injury, which saw him helped off the field against Leeds in just his second game back from a serious ankle setback, also given some light.

"It looks like Cam has got a significant tear of his adductor, which is near the groin," Hodgson explained in his weekly press conference. "We don't know the full extent of that at the moment because there was too much bleeding and swelling at the time of the scan.

"Whether or not it's a season ender, we don't know, but we will have to wait and see how it settles. We'll know more in a weeks time. He's a great boy Cam. He's had a terrible run this year with injury. He's getting his head around that and he understands that unfortunately this is part of the game."

McNamara, meanwhile, told Hull Live earlier this week that a Newcastle return was his goal, but unfortunately, the 20-year-old has been dealt a setback in training. Suffering some stress to his hamstring, Hodgson has confirmed the halfback will now be missing for the Derby on Sunday, taking around another week to be fully fit.

"Unfortunately Ben has had a little bit of a setback," Hodgson continued. "We're hopeful that it's only added one more week but he won't be in the squad this week.
