Huge emergency response after fire at terraced houses in Trafford

Emergency services flooded a Trafford street today after a fire.

Firefighters were called to Hardwick Road in Partington just before 11:45am today (May 2nd) responding to a house fire affecting two ' terraced properties'. The M.E.N understand that the blaze started in the kitchen, caused by a pan catching fire. It is reported that nobody was seriously injured in the incident

Five fire engines responded coming from Sale, Altrincham, Agecroft, Stretford and Hollins. They were assisted by an additional engine from Cheshire Fire and Rescue service with one crew reportedly leaving a training exercise in order to come and help contain the fire.

An ambulance Incident Response Unit and HART team were also on scene alongside multiple police cars, with officers putting a cordon in the place. The road was closed in both directions, preventing entry from Moss Lane and Bucklow Avenue onto the road.

Residents reported seeing 'black smoke' coming from the property which travelled the length of the street, as well as ash which was visible after the fire was put out.

"There was thick, black smoke coming from the house," One resident reported, "It went all the way down the road up towards the shopping centre, someone told me they could see the smoke there. You could barely see because it was that thick."

Work crews who were clearing gutters at a property at the other end of Hardwick Road also had to abandon their job as the smoke made it unsafe to continue.

She said: "I had men cleaning my gutters. They had to come down because the smoke was that thick they couldn't see."
