How Sheffield Wednesday should line up against League One leaders Rotherham United

"Nothing will be decided on Sunday regarding how the season will end."

So said Darren Moore ahead of Sheffield Wednesday's eagerly-anticipated local derby at home to Rotherham United.

Both South Yorkshire clubs enter the clash in fine fettle. The Owls have won four on the spin to move up to seventh in League One while table-topping Rotherham United have chalked up fifth straight victories to strengthen their grip on top spot.

Wednesday have already beaten the Millers once this term.

But Rotherham picked up maximum points on their last visit to Hillsborough in Moore's first match in charge after a dramatic late strike from Freddie Ladapo.

Moore told Yorkshire Live: "It’s been an eventful 11 months, put it that way! All the excitement of the coming to the club, suffering illness wasn’t ideal, the summer was incredibly busy and then we’ve tried to kick on since the start of the season. We started relatively well.

"We have done a lot of patchwork but credit to everybody here at Wednesday. It has been a great challenge and continues to be a wonderful challenge. I am continuing to work hard to keep this club moving in the right direction."

Local bragging rights will be up for grabs this weekend.

If results go Wednesday's way today and they beat Rotherham, there is a distinct possibility they could climb back into the play-off positions for the first time since November.

Moore believes the Owls are heading in the right direction but insists there is "still more work to be done".

"It won’t happen immediately," he said. "It will be done over time.

"You take small steps towards it - I would definitely say there’s been progression within the club, which is good.
