How Manchester United should line up vs Real Betis in USA pre-season fixture

Manchester United take on Real Betis in San Diego, California on Wednesday night.

The scheduled 3am BST kick-off time means that few fans in Manchester will watch the game live, but a sell-out crowd is expected at the 35,000-capacity Snapdragon Stadium.

United lost their pre-season friendly against Arsenal last weekend as the Gunners came from behind to win 2-1 after an excellent opening goal from Rasmus Hojlund. Shortly after scoring, Hojlund was forced off the pitch with an injury and Leny Yoro also picked up a problem, which is thought to be more serious than his attacking teammate.

The extent of both injuries is yet to be clarified and supporters are desperately hoping that new summer signing Yoro won't be condemned to a period on the sidelines.

Ten Hag should resist any temptation to start Rashford up front as that contributed to United's false start to last season. Ethan Wheatley is the logical alternative with Hojlund injured.

There is little point in playing Victor Lindelof when his bags should be packed for departure from Manchester. Wan-Bissaka only starts as he is the only senior full back on tour and Sam Murray merits a chance after two steady showings in the first two friendlies.

McTominay could do with a game that could also maintain his resale value. Toby Collyer and Mason Mount have both done well of late.
