Manchester United sweating on potential triple injury blow ahead of Community Shield vs Man City

Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka weren't spotted in Manchester United training on Wednesday and are injury doubts for the Community Shield.

Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof and Jonny Evans started in the final pre-season friendly of the United States tour against Liverpool and all were substituted during the game.

Will Fish was also taken off on a stretcher in Columbia and those injuries followed issues picked up by Rasmus Hojlund (hamstring) and Leny Yoro (metatarsal) in the States.

United are now sweating on their defensive options ahead of the Community Shield against Manchester City this weekend. Lisandro Martinez and Evans were the only senior centre-backs spotted in training on Wednesday, leaving Maguire and Lindelof as injury doubts.

Yoro has undergone surgery on his foot injury and is expected to be sidelined for around three months, while Fish has suffered torn ligaments and could be out for five weeks.

Youngster Rhys Bennett, whose only previous experience in a first-team matchday squad came against West Ham away in December, was present in training at Carrington and the centre-back may be included in the Community Shield squad due to injuries to senior players.

Erik ten Hag is due to speak to journalists at a press conference at Carrington at 4pm on Thursday and will clarify the injury situation ahead of Saturday's match at Wembley.

As things stand, Martinez and Evans are the only senior centre-back options available and supporters will be hoping for a positive update when Ten Hag speaks to reporters.
