Manchester United players to return as new bid addressed and signing to be assessed

Alejandro Garnacho will return to pre-season training at Manchester United on Friday.

The 20-year-old has been on holiday after his involvement in Argentina's triumphant Copa America campaign and will head to the club's Carrington training complex. Lisandro Martinez, who started all six games for Argentina in the United States, is due to report at Carrington on Monday.

"Of course, we have a plan on every individual when they have to show up," United manager Erik ten Hag said. "The plan is now running. Alejandro is already tomorrow, starts training. Licha will start on Monday. From the most I have clear in my mind."

Joshua Zirkzee checked in at Carrington at the start of the week and will be assessed as to whether he could start against Manchester City in the Community Shield on August 10.

Fellow striker Rasmus Hojlund has been ruled out for six weeks with a hamstring injury and Ten Hag played Jadon Sancho up front in the 3-2 win against Real Betis on Wednesday.

"I think we have to assess next week where we are, they are in two very different situations," Ten Hag stressed. "Jadon is in pre-season, he is in the tour.
