How Leny Yoro's transfer to Man United impacts Matthijs de Ligt deal

Despite Manchester United's recent acquisition of Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt remains interested in joining the club.

Teenage sensation Yoro arrived at Old Trafford from Lille this week for a fee of £52.2million. Following on from Joshua Zirkzee's £36.5m move from Bologna, the transfer initiative shows new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe's intent to see United reclaim their former glory.

Initially, it appeared as though Yoro would be heading to Real Madrid, but United's readiness to pay a higher fee saw them beat Los Blancos to his signature. And the focus now shifts to whether United will pursue any more centre-back targets.

De Ligt, 24, has been heavily linked with United over the years, but the move finally seems plausible amid more intense speculation. Despite some reports suggesting he wishes to stay at Bayern Munich, fresh claims from Gianluca Di Marzio (via The Mirror) indicate the Dutchman would still be open to a move if United are planning more renovations at the back.
