Horizon Forbidden West: Reddit user finds awesome SSX tribute

Horizon Forbidden West is an incredible story-driven game that places you in the shoes of Aloy as she tries to unite the warring tribes and factions of the world.

You’ll go up against fearsome machines as well as human enemies as you attempt to reach the very end of Aloy’s quest and rid the world of the machine threat.

The combat is fast, frenetic, and beautifully paced, meaning you’ll have a whale of a time taking down some of the enemies in the world.

But that doesn’t mean there isn’t some opportunity for downtime.

A video has been shared in the Horizon Reddit sub showing that there is a way to essentially pay homage to one of EA Sports’ greatest ever games: SSX.

SSX was a huge hit for the giant publishers, as players were able to snowboard down mountainsides and pull off some truly incredible tricks too.

Horizon doesn’t feel like the kind of game where you’d find a tribute to SSX and yet, here we are.

The frozen landscapes that can be found in the world have offered players the opportunity to carve it up, just as you could do in the snowboarding classic.

User Onlylaiden has posted the video of Aloy travelling to a snowy locale and then sliding down the side of the mountain like she’s on a snowboard, just like players used to be able to do in SSX.

It’s a long slide down the mountain that takes up a few seconds, and it’s a really fun little easter egg hidden away.

There isn’t a trophy for completing the slide – it would have been cool if there had been – but it’s a way to enjoy some downtime away from fighting the machines and trying to save the world.

We’d highly recommend giving it a try, and we’re also still waiting for a new SSX game; the last one came out in 2012.
