Hibs trialist Adryan won poker tournament DURING a game and was SACKED by Sion after sharing 'drag queen dream'

If Hibs have done their homework on trilaist Adryan oliveira Tavares, they'll probably already know about the stories from his time with Sion.

The Brazilian has joined the Hibees on their winter training camp in Dubai as Nick Montgomery runs the rule over the 29-year-old as he bids to win a deal with the Premiership club. A total of 164 career appearances for a player approaching his 30s seems well on the low side, but goings on from his time in Switzerland perhaps go some way to explaining why.

His pedigree is decent after moving from Flamengo to Leeds United on loan in 2015. He then returned to Brazil before another loan with Nantes. FC Sion took the plunge permanently though, snapping him up for 3million Swiss Francs in July 2017. He managed 14 goals in 28 matches across two seasons, although things then started to go wrong. Club owner Christian Constantin said Adryan did "not have the appropriate lifestyle for an athlete," after he missed 26 games through injury.

However, it turned out injury wasn't always the reason. After being ruled out of a game against Zurich, it turned out that the player had actually gone to France to take part in a poker tournament the same weekend, and posted pictures of himself with his €17,000 winnings.

That drew the wrath of the owner's son, Barthelemy Constantin, who said: "Our team rules are clear. Injured or suspended players must be with the team for all home matches unless they receive extra permission. Adryan did not request a permit and therefore had to be in the stadium."
