Herne Bay's new signing Jacob Lambert on settling in at a new club following four seasons at Sheppey United – Harrison Hatfull, Codey Cosgrave and Joe Taylor among the new arrivals
Herne Bay newboy Jacob Lambert hopes to bring assists and goals to the club and has wasted no time in getting himself prepared.
Bay started the month with the announcement that prolific striker Joe Taylor was joining the club, and Lambert has already taken advantage of some pre pre-season sessions that the experienced front-man has been offering.
With those training sessions at The Crest Stadium, it’s been an ideal way of getting used to new surroundings after four years with former club Sheppey United.
Lambert said: “It’s been nice to have a little bit of a head start and keep the fitness levels going from the back end of last season as well.
“It’s good to have that - you don’t want to go into pre-season totally unfit and I’m feeling good.
“I am looking forward to playing with Joe and hopefully scoring a lot of goals and getting assists.”
Lambert was a key man for old club Sheppey and, in what was a disappointing season for the team last time around, the attacking midfielder finished with the club’s golden boot award and the manager’s player-of-the-season trophy.
He admits leaving was tough - but was keen for a new beginning.
Commenting on a challenging last season with Sheppey, he said: “I was on the end of a couple of bad tackles, early on, and was out for about a month because of injuries to both ankles. I was also out for a few weeks with a hamstring injury, it was the first muscle injury I’ve had.
“We had Rolando Onu in [on loan] from the start and he scored so many goals. He deserved to be recalled to Dover but we never managed to replace him.
“Dan Bradshaw is an absolute legend but not the same player he was because of his injuries. We struggled to score goals. It had been a really good start to the season and it
