Helen Skelton supported by Gorka Marquez as she shares update on new move after emotionally quitting radio job
Helen Skelton was quickly supported by Gorka Marquez as she told fans of her first job since emotionally quitting her radio show. Over the weekend, the TV and radio presenter signed off on her final Sunday morning radio show for BBC 5 Live as she told her listeners 'needs must'.
She announced she would no longer be presenting the 10am to 12pm slot on a Sunday, which she took over from Laura Whitmore in August last year, in a bid to spend more time with her young children. Helen co-parents her three children – eight-year-old son Ernie, six-year-old Louis and daughter Elsie Kate – with her former husband and rugby player Richie Myler.
It comes after they announced in April last year (2022) that they were "no longer a couple". She has since gone on to take part in Strictly Come Dancing last year and finished as a runner-up with professional partner Gorka and Helen previously said that she had “found her confidence on the dancefloor” while competing on the show.

And while still keeping up with her other work commitments, something had to give and during the last show on Sunday (August 13), her fellow 5 Live presenter Steve Crossman admitted he was emotional that she was leaving "for now", to which Helen replied: "I know, I don’t want to but an eight-year-old will be happy about it."
Helen, 40, also told her listeners "needs must" as she admitted she had been struggling to juggle the job alongside caring for her three children. "The juggle is real," she said, adding: "There is an eight-year-old with a sideline who needs me."
But while her radio gig may be on the back burner for now, she will be back on screens on Tuesday night
