Gorka Marquez tells of 'worry' as Gemma Atkinson shares news on 'next adventure' while he's away from home

Gorka Marquez has shared his 'worry' in a candid conversation about balancing his work and family life. The dancer has been spending time away from home working on the new series of Strictly Come Dancing ahead of its on-sceen return in September.

But his commitments to the BBC One dance contest came at a delicate time for Gorka as he had just welcomed his second child into the world with his fiancee Gemma Atkinson.

The 32-year-old had to leave the family home and head to London where Strictly rehearsals were taking place just days after Thiago made his grand entrance on July 17. And as well as leaving Gemma, who he met on the dance show in 2017, and their newborn behind, he also had to say goodbye to four-year-old daughter Mia.

Gorka has, however, been making the trip home during the time he has off in order to spend quality time together as a family of four. But during scenes in his and Gemma's new reality show, Gorka spoke of his concerns about missing out on the 'best parts of parenthood'.

At the time of recording Gemma and Gorks: Life Behind the Lens, Gemma was pregnant with Thiago, or Tio for short, and was spending time away from home on tour. In a candid discussion, Gorka said: “It’s hard for me because I’m away quite a lot with my job.

"Sometimes I feel like I’m missing some of the best things of parenthood. When Mia was born I was on tour, came home for the labour and the birth, and then three days after that I have to go again."

He then went on to explain how things would be different this time, as he intended to be more present in Thiago’s life so he didn’t miss out on those key moments. He added: "Hopefully this
