Hearts v Motherwell: We'll need character and resilience to take points, says Well boss
Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell says his side will need to show character and resilience to emerge with points from high-flying Hearts at Tynecastle.
Hearts are sitting in clear third place in the Premiership and blew Championship side Airdrie away 4-1 on Sunday to reach the Scottish Cup quarter-finals, and Kettlewell knows he has a task on his hands in the capital.
But Motherwell’s last away league win came at Tynecastle with a Callum Slattery winner in September, despite Paul McGinn being sent off.
And Kettlewell wants a repeat of elements that saw his side race into a 3-0 lead at Aberdeen on Wednesday, even if they were pegged back at 3-3.
Kettlewell said: “I got to see them up close and personal [on Sunday] but there weren’t a lot of surprises.
“I know they’ve got a lot of good players, they’ve invested heavily in their squad to get the best group that they possibly can, and they seem to be clicking.
“That game tells me it’s going to be a very difficult game.
“That game at the weekend [at Airdrie] just added to what has been a very good run for Hearts, and coinciding with some good form.
“They’ve obviously put themselves into a good position in the league, they’ve put themselves into the next round of the cup, they’re scoring goals, look pretty mean defensively, and seem to be on to something.
“I’ve always felt that Tynecastle is one of the hardest games that you’ll get in any season, no matter how they’re playing, but it just so happens that we go there and lay against a Hearts side that seems to be firing on all cylinders.
“It’s going to be a tough ask for us, a tough game for us, but we found ourselves 3-0 up at Pittodrie [on Wednesday] and playing very well, so if we can reach those heights then I genuinely
