'He's coming with his studs' - Arsenal's Martin Odegaard fumes after late tackle from Man City star Rodri

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard was furious that he wasn't awarded a penalty following a challenge from Manchester City ace Rodri during Norway's clash with Spain.

Spain secured a 3-0 victory over Norway at Malaga's La Rosaleda stadium in a Euro 2024 qualifier on Saturday, but the away side felt they should have had a penalty when Rodri wiped out Odegaard inside the penalty area.

Odegaard managed to get his shot off, but it was blocked, and he was then on the receiving end of a late challenge from Rodri.

Odegaard was fuming after the game, claiming that he should have had a penalty for the tackle after Rodri's studs connected with ankle.

"I’m pretty sure I should have had a penalty," Odegaard told TV2. "He’s coming with his studs right on my ankle. But I’m sure I’ll get punished [if I say anymore]. I don’t bother saying anything else about the referee. It’s better not to say anything."

Rodri managed to avoid giving away a penalty to the fury of Odegaard and his teammates, but it was still a disappointing night for Norway. Spain cruised to a comfortable victory thanks to an early strike from Dani Olmo and a late brace from Joselu inside the final ten minutes.

Arsenal and City are currently battling it out for the Premier League title. Mikel Arteta's side boast an eight-point lead at the top of the table, albeit the Gunners have played one game more than Pep Guardiola's side. Rodri has made 40 appearances for the Blues in all competitions this term, registering two goals and six assists.
